“Steel Magnolias,” the anticipated television movie, starring Jill Scott, Queen Latifah and more may not air this weekend as planned.
A lawsuit filed Monday is threatening an injunction that may prohibit Lifetime from airing the anticipated feature shot over the Summer.
According to Victoria White, the executive producer behind the original movie, Lifetime and Sony Pictures have failed to give her credit and compensate her for using the name and likeness of “Steel Magnolias.”
In documents uncovered by TMZ Monday, White is demanding to receive just credit. If she does not, she is requesting a judge order an injunction that would prevent Lifetime from airing the movie. White also claims to be entitled to a portion of earnings and a $15,000 fee for use of “Steel Magnolias.”
At this point, it is unclear if White will be given credit.
“Steel Magnolias” is due to air Sunday, October 7 at 9/8c on Lifetime.
