It seems Philadelphia is turning into an entertainment hotspot. Amongst other nifty events going in the city of brotherly love, it will be hosting the Annual Philadelphia Global Fusion Festival. The festival has just added Compton,C.A. native Kendrick Lamar to a lineup that includes Brandy, Elle Varner, Luke James, Kenny Lattimore and RKM & Ken-Y.
Kendrick Lamar has consistently grown a loyal following by releasing mixtapes such as ‘Overly Dedicated’ which came out in 2010 and his independent album ‘Section 80’ which hit iTunes exclusively. The success of his music has created a ripple effect throughout the music industry. Kendrick Lamar has worked with legends such as Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre who has signed Mr. Lamar to Aftermath/Interscope Records label. If being recognized by greats wasn’t enough he has also been ranked #3 on Complex magazine Best Rapper Under 25 list.
Philadelphians will be pleased and entertained by the lyrically equipped rapper on Saturday, July 21st, 2012.The FREE festival by the Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC) and the Delaware River Waterfront Corp., is the largest one day festival which attracts more than 30,000 attendees. This festival also involves cultural performers, multicultural vendors and a children’s pavilion. This is a day dedicated to the community and celebrating Philadelphia’s African Diaspora, Hispanic, Caribbean and Asian unity.
