In a preview for Rihanna’s anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey, the “We Found Love” singer admits to worrying not only about Chris Brown, but his image. Claiming she thought people would label him a “monster” before trying to get him help, Rihanna says “I felt protective.”
“I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help. And who’s going to help him ?” Rihanna tells Oprah. “Nobody is going to say he needs help. Everybody is going to say he’s a monster without looking at the source.”
Even though she was injured and publicly humiliated to an extent with a photograph of her bloodied face released, Rihanna felt like she lost a friend.
“I was more concerned about him,” she says in a preview. “Everything I knew switched in a night and I couldn’t control that.”
As previously reported, Rihanna sat down with Winfrey at her home in Barbados earlier this month. The anticipated interview is set to air on “Oprah’s Next Chapter” Sunday, August 19 at 9 pm on OWN.
