Last Friday, rapper Juelz Santana fled from Newark International Airport when a loaded firearm was allegedly discovered in his bag at a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint.
After being a wanted man for several days, Santana, real name LaRon James, turned himself in to authorities at the Port Authority Police Department in the early hours of Monday. He was booked for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a weapon on an aircraft, both of which carry a 10-year maximum sentence.
Santana, 36, who is a member of the rap collective, The Diplomats, was also booked for unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of drugs, and on an unspecified federal warrant.
According to NJ.com, he appeared before Magistrate Judge Joseph Dickson on Monday afternoon and was remanded in federal custody pending his preliminary hearing on March 26th.
Santana was previously convicted for drug distribution in 2013, which bans him from carrying a gun.
