Chris Brown and Kevin McCall used to be good friends and even better collaborators (“Deuces, “No B.S.”), but now they’re more like enemies.
It seems to have started a while ago; back in 2015, Kevin spoke with VladTV about being in disagreement with Brown about the direction of Kevin’s image and career.
“Chris had this image of me, he wanted me to be grown, sexy, have this thug appeal and we kinda just didn’t see eye to eye. I didn’t see the vision he had, at the same time it could have just been a small conversation, but for whatever reason we didn’t see eye to eye or what he was trying to do for my career. At the time and I feel like I was just sitting on my hands waiting on him to do something. He was touring with Tyga and all that but he wasn’t taking me with him and performing my songs and I’m seeing that, so I’m like ‘I gotta do my own thing.’ He had a conversation with me, ’cause I was upset. He was like, ‘I can lead you to the door, but I can’t make people f— with you, you gotta do that!’ ” McCall revealed.
Later in the interview, he then revealed Brown was upset he worked with KeKe Palmer, saying Brown thought it wasn’t a good look for his career.
Now, the most recent blow up all started with a tweet on Tuesday where Kevin reached out to Chris on Twitter after failing to get Chris’ attention after prior, more private attempts to talk “business.” “We need to sit down and handle business. I tried the adult business route. I feel my kindness is being taken for weakness,” he tweeted.
He also tweeted:
It seems Kevin at one point was waiting for Brown to put him on, but he never did. Chris heard about Kevin’s tweets and boy, that set Chris off! What followed was a lengthy post on Instagram, where he said Kevin halted his own progress in the industry with his arrogance, not Brown’s neglect.
In part, Chris tweeted,”N*GGAS BE IN THEY FEELINGS SNEAK DISSING BECAUSE THEY FUCKED UP THEY LIFE BEING TOO FUCKING ARROGANT AND THEN NOBODY WANTED TO WORK WITH YOU KEVIN,” he said. “THE LABEL DROPPED YOU BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE A BETTER PRODUCER AND WRITER THAN THE N*GGA YOU ARE TODAY.”
Ouch! And it doesn’t end there…Chris soon after started threatening violence in the later part of the post (cuff off below). “KEEP FUCKING WITH ME AND YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO WALK LET ALONE SING AGAIN. It’ll be hard to play piano with no fingers.” Yikes!
And if the petty parade wasn’t over, Kevin dragged Chris’ ex Karrueche Tran’s name in the mix, insinuating that she went to model Tyson Beckford shortly after her split with Breezy last year. Brown briefly had beef with Beckford after seeing a photo of Tran and Beckford together.
“@tysonbeckford Wussup big bro…I was thinking lets go out & take some light skin n***** girls later today,” McCall tweeted, “you already did? Damn *laughing-crying emoji*,” he tweeted.
Sheesh!! “R&Beef” is the new beef, I guess.
