Chicago Artist Justin Ruff Drops A ‘Ruff Draft’, But It’s Anything But

Up-and-coming Chicago singer Justin Ruff releases his debut EP “The Ruff Draft,” but when it comes to the play on the word “rough,” any sandpaper-like comparisons are nonexistent.

In fact, it's smooth as butter. Justin’s voice is a Maxwell-like falsetto, and on this project, he effectively bridges the old school and new school groove;: “I’m With It” offers a grown and sexy vibe, while the chopped and screwed voice adds a contemporary, fresh feel. He lets his voice shine even more on acoustic offerings “Try No More” and “Faded Picture” even showing his scatting talents, and on the sexy “12 AM,” his vocal delivery is reminicent of Prince's high wails.
