Cleveland-native and Sauce Records artist J. Ab drops his debut project Bangers & BangHers. Headed by Tha Bizness-produced “Something Bout Ya,” J. Ab calls his debut project “a romantic story anyone can relate to,” in his case, his story revolves around a girl named “Nikki.” (“Nikki's Curves" parts 1 and 2 and “Nikki’s Lullaby”).
On the entire album, J. Makes great use of harmonies, their placements in just the right place (see “6AM”). “Single” is a Slick-Rick-inspired, breezy groove as he aspires to cuff a young woman he has his eyes on, a definite windows-down cut. “Drop It Low” satisfies the urge to shake a tail feather, and “15 Minutes” grooves smoothly with finger-snaps and the aforementioned harmonies. In the style of a modern street corner quartet, Ab pleads his girl to forgo the workplace to stay in the sheet. “So call your boss, call off / And tell him that you need a day off / To sleep in and get it in,” he suggests.
