After “Between the Sheets” there was "Bed". The rhythmic bounce of “Bed” pulsated in club and bedrooms during the summer of Jay Z’s “American Gangster” and Kanye West’s “Graduation. In 2007, Def Jam and Interscope were dominating the Hip Hop and R&B charts before Capitol Records unleashed J. Holiday. The Washington D.C. native owned the bedroom through his clever and smooth sounds. The album, Bac' of My Lac, debuted on the Billboard charts at #5 selling 105,000 copies in the first week. It debuted #1 on the Hip Hop/R&B charts in the first week.

"Round 2" was his second album, which was released on March 10, 2009, and spawned the single "It's Yours." After lackluster sales and some other internal issues, J. Holiday was released from his contract at Capitol.

Holiday later signed to Island Def Jam in 2010. He blessed his fans with new music and released a new mixtape entitled M.I.A: The Lost Pages. On May 29, 2012, J. Holiday released "Sign My Name", from his upcoming third studio album.

It’s 2013, and J. Holiday is no longer on the Def Jam roster!

We knew his name was J. Holiday, but we didn’t know he would take an actual holiday.

Here's hoping for new music soon!

When the second album did not produce a money maker, Capitol Records and J. Holiday parted ways. He signed a new contract with Def Jam, but it was short lived. One single “Sign My Name,” but no album was released.

A great freshman year could have been luck because everybody loves a new face. The sophomore album, Round 2, did not live up to the anticipation created from his debut album. The label pulled the plug and only pushed one single from the album.

The success of “Bed” was also a problem. J. Holiday needed a follow-up single that could equal the appetite of fans. He delivered “Suffocate” after getting ladies to Bed.

Many believe leaving a group for a solo career is the answer. Fortunately, for J. Holiday it was. He caught The-Dream as his songwriting skills were becoming a hot demand. J. Holiday’s performance of The Dream and Los Da Mystro’s “Bed” was a must listen sexual experience.

After studying Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Al Green, J. formed a trio named 295 for the freeway in D.C. The group relocated to Atlanta to display their talents, but the attempts failed. That launched the solo career of J. Holiday.
