Ne-Yo’s Ex Threatens Lawsuit Over Interview

Grammy Award winner Ne-Yo’s ex-girlfriend, Jessica White, claims to have been “harassed” and “defamed” after he appeared on VH1’s “Behind The Music” earlier this year.
As seen on “Behind The Music,” Ne-Yo broke down when revealing the fact that White told him that her son was not his biological child. He went on to claim that the situation “hurt” because they had a connection.
“I didn’t care who the father was. In my mind I was still Chimere’s father. I was there when he was born. I saw him when he first came out. I held him,” says Ne-Yo. “In the state of California if you put yourself out there as the father, the mother can then come after you for child support like you’re the biological father. We settled out of court for what I feel like is an ungodly amount and shortly after that Jessica and Chimere vanished.”
Getting back to present day, White has retained attorney Gloria Allred and says Ne-Yo was basically in breach of a confidentiality agreement they had when he allegedly paid her $575,000 in the settlement. As a result of him speaking out, White claims to have a host of problems, including not being able to work.
“Jessica has been unable to work, was forced to file for state aid, suffers from mental anguish and is “beset by nausea, vomiting and hair loss” thanks to Ne-Yo’s remarks,” TMZ reports, pulling an excerpt from a letter sent by Allred.
Threatening to take further legal action, White is asking that Ne-Yo provide another settlement or some form of compensation for breaching their initial agreement.
“Jessica is asking Ne-Yo to settle the matter amicably out of court (cough, cough $$$$) … otherwise she’ll be forced to pursue more serious legal options,” reports TMZ.
As previously reported, Ne-Yo spoke out via Twitter after the episode aired, saying the interview with “Behind The Music” was not to hurt Jessica White.
“I need it to be known that the purpose of my BEHIND THE MUSIC wasn’t to bash Jessica White. We were young, mistakes were made. I FORGAVE,” says Ne-Yo. “Holding grudges messes with your blessings. I do not hate Jessica White. I wish her and lil’ Chimere all the best wherever they are. LOVE.”
