In May 2012, Mary Mary released their sixth studio album ‘Go Get It’ and starred in their own reality television series on WEtv. The album was a compilation of previously released songs as well as new records including the lead single “Go Get It.”
With all the hype around the project and TV show, the duo planned a U.S. tour, but it was later cancelled due Erica getting pregnant. Following the cancellation Mary Mary told us:
“We’ll do what we’ve done in the past. You do it while you’re pregnant until you can’t do it anymore; and then with a newborn, trying to manage mixed schedules through getting very little sleep. We’ve done this before, we’ve had all our children while on the road with Mary Mary. The last time having a new baby with a new record and it is hectic, it is hard, and a lot of times you are exhausted. But we’re committed to our careers as well as our children, so we do the best that we can. Sometimes you wanna just sit at the crib and put your feet up and rest your back. Or Erica probably wants to go somewhere and get a good night’s rest, but that’s the breaks with this career that we’ve chosen, and this opportunity to have this wonderful platform that we have. So we’ve managed to make it work.”
Now with a little more time on their hands, the group is set to embark on a new trek later this month for their “Go Get It” tour along with special guest Isaac Carree, Anthony Brown & Group TherAPY, Jessica Reedy, VaShawn Mitchell and Anita Wilson. The tour will kick off on October 25th in Jacksonville, FL and run through November 17, closing in Richmond VA.
