Mariah Carey is officially on-board to appear as a judge during the next season of “American Idol.”
Following numerous reports indicating she had signed a $17 million deal, Carey took to Twitter making the news official Monday afternoon.
“It’s gonna be so much fun working on American Idol. As a singer-songwriter, I’m excited to help find and nurture talent,” said Carey.
Carey comes on board just weeks after Jennifer Lopez confirmed that she would not be returning for another season. Steven Tyler had previously confirmed his intent to work with Aerosmith, leaving his “Idol” days behind.
It remains unclear if Randy Jackson will remain on board for another season. “Idol” alum Adam Lambert is also said to be a contender to replace Tyler.
