American Idol First Round ‘A Hot Mess,’ Who Stays ?

The vocals on American Idol Tuesday were not just “a mess” according to Simon, they were “a hot mess” according to Ellen. While the first night of performances this season had some high points, it appeared that nerves and perhaps bad song choices had gotten the best of contestants. Among those who received strong reviews from judges, including Kara and Randy, were Paige Miles and Lilly Scott. Miles, performing “All Right Now” by Free, did not receive praise from everyone but, according to Simon has the best voice of the girls. It appeared however, that Lilly Scott was the night’s front runner tapping the Beatles. With guitar in hand, Scott delivered with confidence — something Ellen praised, stating “That’s what we’re talking about.” As for the other ladies, the night did not end as they might have liked with Ashley Rodriguez slammed for her rendition of Leona Lewis’ “Happy” and Haeley Vaughn called “messy” for a performance of “I Want to Hold Your Hand”. With the ladies completing their first night, tonight belongs to the guys. The final twelve includes Todrick Hall, Michael Lynch, Jermaine Sellers, and Andrew Garcia. Who did you vote for last night ? Results will be revealed Thursday at 8pm on FOX.
