Ciara Out, Jordin Sparks In For Surprising Spears Tour Switch

In a surprising switch up “Work” singer Ciara has vanished from an opening slot on Britney Spears’ forthcoming fall 2009 ‘Circus’ tour. Long believed to have been booked for the tour after spending time with Spears this spring, Ciara was replaced by Jordin Sparks in a release confirmed by Britney Spears’ management Friday. In the release, which did not reference Ciara, Spears management wrote: “Sparks will perform on the U.S. portion of the trek including dates in New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, Detroit, Chicago and more before concluding on September 26 & 27 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV. Previously announced opening act Kristinia DeBarge will join the tour for all dates; while up-and-coming acts Girlicious and One Call will appear in select cities.” As previously reported on Singersroom, Spears’ tour will kick off August 20 in Hamilton, ON.
