Last year, it was announced a biopic about Boston-heralded R&B group New Edition has been greenlit by BET, now some tea may have been spilled on the cast!
According to Frank Holder of Humor Mill Magazine, “Empire” star Bryshere Gray (Yazz/Hakeem) has scored the starring role as Michael Bivins in the forthcoming made-for-TV miniseries.
Along with Gray, they say that Luke James will play Johnny Gill, Evan Ross will portray Ronnie Devoe, Elijah Kelley has been cast as Ricky Bell, Algee Smith will be playing Ralph Tresvant, and Bobby McClain will play Bobby Brown. They also report that Chris Robinson is directing the film for BET.
According to previous reports, group members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant are all on board to co-produce the film, which will span across three nights in a miniseries. Production is reported to begin this Spring 2016.
It seems all these actors have some type of musical background, which can bring realness to the project. This is all very much so hearsay, but what do you think about this casting, Roomies?
