In 1997, Lauryn Hill’s Grammy Award-winning solo album The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill went eight-times-platinum, and fans have been awaiting a follow-up ever since, and they just might get it soon.
Following a host of live albums and buzz singles, Hill has been diligently working on new music. According to Philadelphia producer Phil Niccolo (Cypress Hill, Schoolly D, and DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince), who told The FADER that Hill has been faithfully working on a new opus:
“Since 2010, she has been working quietly and diligently on a new album and a host of politically minded film projects,” he said. “She began touring again five years ago as a way of exercising artistic muscle and financing her recording plans. Niccolo said she is closer than ever to finishing the follow-up to [The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill]. It is political, but also deeply personal,” he says. “She is drawing ‘from all of her inputs.'”
Over the past few years, Nina Simone cover “Feeling Good” and social commentary songs like “Black Rage” and “Consumerism.”
If true, who's excited for new music from Ms. Hill?
