Christina Milian announced in 2012 she was the newest signee to Lil Wayne’s YMCMB label in preparation for new music. Then there was a delay, and now we may know why…looks like Christina is Wayne’s newest industry bae! It was apparent at last night’s ESPY Awards; not only did the two arrive and sit together, but they were also spotted holding hands!
Now…this is where you can interject your side eyes…
Only a month ago, Christina called off her engagement with Jas Prince, the CEO of Rap-A-Lot Records who is credited with helping Milian get her deal with Young Money. In May, Wayne released a freestyle called “Tina Turn Up Needs A Tune Up” in which he throws shots at Prince, claiming “Tina” (supposedly short for “Christina”) deserves a king as opposed to a “prince” (a jab at Jas Prince’s name).
Jas is also reportedly responsible for turning Wayne on to Drake, whom he eventually signed and was vaulted into superstardom. However, back in 2012, Jas sued Drake's management (who were also Wayne's management team) for unpaid royalties he claims he hadn't received from Drake's deal.
It's also an interesting factoid if you remember Christina is Wayne’s second attempt with The-Dream’s ex-wives (Nivea dated and had Wayne's son Neal Carter after her divorce with Dream, and Christina is the second one; she filed for divorce from the Dream back in 2010, with whom she shares a daughter with).
Sticky, sticky, sticky! So was it Wayne and Milian’s secret relationship while she was engaged to Prince that ended her engagement? (Because she seemed to jump in with Wayne very quickly!) And did Wayne’s verse in the freestyle drive the dagger in an already-faltering situation?
