Prince Rogers Nelson, know to the world as his mononym Prince, was born on June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He had a calling for music at an early age, writing his first song at age seven, but struggled to get heard before releasing his debut album, For You, in 1978. Fast forward to today, and over 100 million records sold worldwide, Prince is still making legendary moves, all while controlling his own ship.
Prince is an ICON. Since his debut, he has been sprinkling his unique sounds with diamonds and pearls and it will forever be carved in stone. He has maintained his relevancy for decades. His groans, moans, adlibs, sounds and style have been a source of inspiration to artists and fans alike. Check out a couple songs we felt had a little purple Prince passion.
Are there any songs that you love that has that Prince vibe?
Andre 3000 – She Lives In My Lap
Andre 3000 was a genius when he put together ‘The Love Below’. The rapper, hailing out of the Dirty South, put together an eclectic collection of songs that were not bound by genres. “She Lives in My Lap” is a spacey, futuristic, erotic, yummy-delicious and plump song that leaves your mind pleasantly dizzy.
Usher – Do It To Me
Usher’s “Do It To Me” tells you everything in the title. The instrumentation is all Prince and the way Usher lays his voice softly over it make it magical. Get some candles, wine and let it play.
D Angelo – Untitled
D’Angelo’s “Untitled” is 100 % sexy. This song seems to be an ode to Prince. D’Angelo gives the people a sensual song with an even sexier video to match. Did you love D’Angelo’s video and his body?
Keri Hilson – Slow Dance
“Slow Dance” starts with her soft whisper at the beginning. Keri seems to use Prince’s signature speaking voice throughout the introduction until the beat builds, which is brilliant. It’s a rhythmic bedroom flow that could help to align the movements of you and that special someone.
Kevin Michael – Liquid Lava Love
Kevin Michael must be Prince’s love child because this is all Prince. “Liquid Lava Love” sounds like under water love making. It starts out slow and it builds up. The adlibs, moans and the groans are perfectly done to give you an orgasmic experience.
Ciara – Promise
Ciara slows it down when she pledges her loyalty to her man in “Promise”. The slow, hypnotic introduction Prince is known for is something Ciara uses to bless the beginning of the track. Do you think Ciara sings this sensual track to her fiancé Future?
Chris Brown – Take You Down
Chris Brown is no stranger to making it nice and steamy for the ladies. “Take You Down” talks about in detail how Chris Brown wants to do things in the bedroom. It seems he got a couple pointers from Prince. The sound and feel of this track are reminiscent of Prince’s songs. The instrumentation and the way his vocals are laid give you that feeling.
Ladies, would you mind if Chris Brown took you down?
Justin Timberlake – Until The End Of Time
Justin Timberlake is a chameleon and has been able to morph his style to fit various sounds. In “Until The End of Time,” he takes us slowly through his desires to be with that special someone until everything else ceased to exist. He spreads his voice over the Prince-ish (Prince like) beat like butter. The vibe of this song is amazing and it sounds like something right out the book of Prince. If you love the song “Until The End of Time” comment!
The-Dream – Falsetto
The-Dream at times sounds a lot like Prince. However, “Falsetto” is just the perfect example of what magic he is able to make with his style, which seems to be heavily influenced by Prince. Does The-Dream’s sound remind you of Prince sometimes?
R Kelly – Remote Control
R. Kelly has solidified himself as a music icon in his own right. But when it comes to being edgy and taking chances and also getting people nice and moist in the bedroom, Prince must have taught Kellz a thing or two. “Remote Control” is clever and sensual, but there is a heavy Prince feel to this classic joint.
