If metaphysical psychology uses the color indigo to represent love-wisdom, then Nylo’s Indigo Summer mixtape finds the Los Angeles-by-way of Chicago songstress attempting to figure out the love landscape through experiences that would make anyone wiser after living and learning from the situation.
Featuring her own production along major-head producers such as Tricky Stewart and Fisticuffs, Nylo’s crisp, angelic voice rings out on each track with honesty; “Fool Me Once” guards against ever being hurt again, with a chill, sing-along melody, and “Nobody Has to Know” features a soaring hook and the only feature in Gilbere Forte. She also covers Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” taking it to a whole new place. “Rent Free” returns from her 2012 EP Memories Speak, evicting old, freeloading emotions from her mental property: “No longer am I holding a grudge, you used to live in my head rent free / No longer do I think we’re in love, it’s time to pack your sh*t and leave / You’re not welcome anymore,” she sings with cool conviction.
Nylo is already working on another project titled Indigo Rose scheduled for a fall release. Stream and download above.
