An overpopulated crowd waited for R&B singer-songwriter, Musiq Soulchild, to perform at B.B Kings restaurant on February 1st in New York City. And the wait was worth it! Musiq was a huge sensation during his showing.
The Grammy nominated crooner performed some of his popular hit singles including "Just Friends (Sunny)," "Girl Next Door," "HalfCrazy," "For the Night," "Yes" "B.U.D.DY," and "Radio." In addition, he sang some of his love ballads that are considered to be "relationship anthems" for everyone. The songs are "So Beautiful," "If You Leave ft Mary J. Blige,""Don't Change," "Love," and "Teach Me." The song "Love" is Musiq's greatest hit to date. The single was on Billboards' Hot 100 chart for 22 weeks.
Furthermore, during the concert, Musiq opened up about a book that he published last summer . The book, 1, 4, 3: Luv According to Musiq, mentions the highs and lows of intimate relationships. Musiq says he is not an expert on relationships, but he believes his book will be beneficial for his fans.
"The book is informational for everyone, including me. I hope everyone will be better lovers once they read the book," said Musiq. "The book doesn't only talk about "doing it," but it talks about sticking it out with the person that you "did it" with for a long time. I am not a relationship counselor, but God has blessed me with the vision to see what most people can't see in the name of love."
The audience also heard Musiq's multi-talented band "Just Listen," playing the drums, trumpet, guitar, and well-pitched background vocalists, Natasha Renee and Musiq's brother Jason. Renee's voice was full of eloquence and passion when she sang, "If You Leave," with Musiq.
Musiq was impressed with the audience's love and appreciation for him. Fans were singing his songs word for word and their eyes were full of astonishment when Musiq was scatting and hitting those high notes.
Following the concert, he signed autographs for fans and took pictures.
Taalib "Musiq Soulchild" Johnson, a Philadelphia native, but currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia rose to stardom in 2000 with his debut album, Aijustwanaseing. 13 years later, Musiq has earned several nominations in music from Moard, the BET awards, ASCAP, BMI, and Soul Train. Musiq received 11 Grammy nominations, including three for his Luvandmusiq album in 2007. He also received awards from Billboard, MTV, American Music Awards, and the NAACP. He also has 2 platinum albums, 2 gold albums, and seven hit singles.
