John Legend to Produce Loosely-Based Autobiographical Sitcom

Earlier this month, John Legend announced that his upcoming album “Love in the Future” and tour will be delayed. “Unfortunately, while the creative process has been exciting and I’m pretty certain we’re going to deliver the best album of my career so far, the timing hasn’t adhered to the schedule I originally envisioned,” he wrote to his fans.

But, this may be the reason why! You now have the right to call singer-songwriter John Legend by another professional name; television executive producer. Deadline reports that Legend’s company Get Lifted, in collaboration with 20th Century Fox and Chermin Entertainment, got the green light from Fox to produce a new comedy based on Legend’s life as a younger man.

The untitled show will follow a young man in his early 20s who takes on the responsibility of raising his younger siblings, while also trying to maintain a career and social life. The sitcom will also be executive produced by Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorious. No word on casting choices.
