Trey “Trigga” Songz is in full promotional gear for “Chapter V,” his upcoming album due out Tuesday August 21. He recently sat down with Nessa from Wild 94.4 for a genuinely good time as he filled the audience in on what to expect from Chapter V, how he felt about the Drake/Aaliyah collab, and got candid in a round of truth or dare.

Chapter V, he said, is “very reflective” as he assessed his surrounding at how far he’s come since his first album. “It’s ‘Love Faces,’ it’s ‘Neighbors Know My Name,’ it’s ‘Say Ahh,’ it’s ‘Bottom’s Up’ 2015…every aspect of the music I’ve ever given the world, I made a way for it to be better…growth is inevitable within me,” he said. And the list goes on when it comes to those featured on the 18-track compilation; Meek Mill, T.I., Rick Ross, Jeezy, and Lil Wayne to name a few.

And when it comes to old collab partner Drake’s song with Aaliyah “Enough Said,” Trigga says he was just happy to hear unheard material from the late singer. “I think the concept of the song is dope…I think it would be dope if Timbo and Missy did it though, but…you don’t know who owns her music, so I don’t get to talk about stuff I don’t know about.”

In a fun twist on things, Trey played truth or dare, dishing on his personal life and doing a spot-on Jay-Z impression. The interview turned personal when a truth question was if he’s ever cheated in a relationship; he said yes to the audience’s disappointment. He even dished about the strangest place he’s ever had sex. Yes, he went there, ladies.

Check out the full interview below:

Trey Songz is one of the sexiest and most talented R&B singers on the scene today. The Virginia native has been making heart-pounding music since 2005, when he released his debut album I Gotta Make It. Recently, Trey sat down with MTV to talk about Chapter V — his fifth studio album, which dropped this summer — as well as play a game of truth or dare.

The Grammy nominated artist opened up about everything from what inspired him while writing Chapter V to a possible collaboration between Drake and Aaliyah that may be in the works. His honest answers and playful attitude made for an intriguing interview, proving once again why fans love Trey so much.

In addition to talking shop, Trey also took part in a round of truth or dare, where he answered some questions that many have been dying to know the answer to (and no doubt left us wanting more). Read on for all of the juicy details!

Trey Songz Interview

Trey Songz is a hugely successful R&B singer and songwriter who has been making waves in the industry for over a decade. In this exclusive interview, he talks to us about his upcoming album Chapter V, why he chose Aaliyah and Drake as inspiration, and how it feels to play Truth or Dare onstage.

When asked what inspired him to create his fifth studio album Chapter V, Trey reveals that it was all about “being honest with myself”. He explains that during the creation of this project he had to be more open and vulnerable than ever before when facing difficult topics like heartbreak and relationships. His honesty shines through on tracks like “Dive In” where he croons: “I done made mistakes but I won’t let em break me down/Girl you know that you can depend on me now”.

In addition to being an artist of immense talent, Trey is also a fan of music himself which led him to choose Aaliyah’s posthumous single ‘Are You That Somebody’ as one of the samples used on Chapter V. He admits that while listening back to her classic track there were times where he would tear up because she’s no longer here – but ultimately decided that using her vocals was necessary for conveying the emotion behind his own lyrics. Similarly, Trey felt compelled by the power of Drake’s music which prompted him to incorporate elements from ‘Buried Alive Interlude’ into his latest single. With these two features alone, it’s clear just how deeply invested Trey is in creating timeless pieces within the R&B genre; something fans have come to expect from this powerhouse vocalist.

Singer’s Reflections On Career

Reflecting on the success of his career, Trey acknowledges that it took a lot of self-discipline and dedication to get where he is today. “It’s definitely been an uphill battle,” he admits. Despite having faced many obstacles along the way, Trey remains grateful for all the experiences which have shaped him into who he is now. He understands that without these challenges he wouldn’t be as strong or resilient – qualities which are essential in any industry, especially music.

When asked about playing Truth or Dare onstage during performances, Trey shares that it can be both exciting and nerve-wracking at times – but ultimately worth it when fans respond positively to his bold choices. In one instance, he was daring enough to crowd surf while singing ‘Heart Attack’ – something he never thought he’d do until then! It shows how much trust Trey has placed in himself to take risks regardless of what others may think; a quality that continues to define him as an artist.

Amidst discussing his professional life and future plans, there’s no denying the fact that Trey Songz has experienced tremendous growth since first breaking out onto the scene back in 2005. With every release comes another showcase of skillful lyricism and stellar vocals – proving why this multi-platinum recording artist still reigns supreme within R&B music today.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I’m truly inspired by Trey Songz’s story. His journey as an artist has been full of ups and downs but he continues to persevere and stay true to his music. He is a shining example for aspiring musicians everywhere that hard work pays off in the long run. His latest album Chapter V is proof of this success, with songs like “Heart Attack” and “Hail Mary” showcasing his talent as well as paying homage to Aaliyah.

Trey Songz’s ambition doesn’t show any signs of stopping anytime soon; he recently released a song with Drake called “Successful” which has become a hit single. With all these accomplishments behind him, it won’t be long before we hear more new music from Trey Songz. It’s safe to say that this R&B superstar will continue to make great strides in the industry for many years to come!
