Nas Says Kelis Got A Bad Rap, Talks Divorce

They are in a better place. Nas and Kelis have reportedly burried the past and are moving forward.
Speaking candidly about their divorce, public perception and some not so good moments, Nas says Kelis really got a bad rap and that should not have been the case.
“She’s a great girl and she caught a bad rap in the whole thing,” Nas says of their divorce. “It wasn’t fair though. I love that people ride with me but at the end of the day, they were too harsh. People didn’t really understand.”
Admitting there were instances of him clearing out a house and her doing things in spite, Nas says it took them awhile to get to a good place.
“It took a while to get there,” Nas told Hot 97 Tuesday before admitting the divorce lawyers and hype surrounding the divorce played into there being more problems. “We had some of the biggest divorce lawyers in L.A. When you’re dealing with divorce, there’s anger and there’s hurt. So you go and get the best representation you could get.”
While Nas and Kelis are better now, he admits he didn’t tell her about using her wedding dress on his album cover until the last minute.
“I told her two weeks before it went out,” he joked.

Nas is speaking out about his past marriage to Kelis, and it’s clear he has nothing but respect for her. The hip hop legend recently made a statement that suggests the singer/chef got an undeserved “bad rap” following their divorce in 2010. He also opened up about why things didn’t work out between them and how they still remain friends. This article dives into Nas’s thoughts on Kelis, providing an interesting look inside one of hip-hop’s most iconic couples.

The two married in 2005 after dating for several years – only five years later, however, the couple divorced amidst rumors of infidelity and abuse accusations from both sides. While neither have gone into detail about what exactly happened during their relationship or the events leading up to their split, it was no secret there were issues behind closed doors.

In a recent interview with Pitchfork Magazine, Nas shed some light on the situation saying “Kelis got a bad rap—she deserved better.” His words suggest that while there may have been underlying problems within their union, perhaps we never quite got the full story as to why they ended things – at least not from him anyway. Now fans are eager to learn more; did something happen that hasn’t come to light? How do they now interact? We answer those questions and more below!

Nas’s Thoughts On Kelis And Divorce

Nas has always had a lot of respect for Kelis and the way she’s handled her career. He believes that, despite all the press attention surrounding their divorce, she got an unfairly bad rap and was treated harshly by some sections of the media. Nas says that ultimately he wishes things between them could have worked out differently but it wasn’t to be.

Throughout his life, Nas has faced plenty of heartache – something which is reflected in much of his music. His songs often reflect on relationships and explore how people adapt when they go through tough times. Even though they are no longer together, there’s still love between them both and he hopes that one day they can move forward with a sense of peace and understanding.

Nas feels strongly about protecting children from any disruption caused by discord within families. Whatever happened between him and Kelis, he wants to make sure that their son is safe and happy above all else. This is why he continues to work hard at maintaining amicable relations with his ex-wife and ensuring their child gets what they need emotionally as well as materially.

Impact Of Divorce On The Music Industry

The divorce between Nas and Kelis has had a ripple effect within the music industry, raising questions about how breakups of highly publicised couples can affect their professional lives. It’s been difficult for both parties to move on from the split, not least because they have an ongoing relationship due to their son. With such a large fanbase and millions of people watching their every move, it’s hard to separate personal issues from business decisions.

The effects of this high-profile separation are far reaching – it shapes fans’ perceptions of artists as well as influencing other relationships in the music industry. For example, some producers may be hesitant to work with either party out of respect or fear that creating new material could bring attention back onto their failed marriage. Collaborations which were once commonplace now seem off limits, further adding to the sense of disruption caused by the couple’s breakup.

Despite all these challenges, Nas and Kelis continue to walk a fine line between maintaining professionalism while also protecting themselves and their family from any potential fallout stemming from their divorce. Their story is one which highlights just how much impact a single event can have on multiple aspects of life – both private and public.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I believe that Nas has a valid opinion regarding the divorce between himself and Kelis. He believes she was given an unfair reputation due to the proceedings of their split. This situation is not unique in the music industry and other famous couples have gone through similar experiences with public scrutiny.

As someone who works within this sphere, it’s important for me to remember how influential celebrity relationships can be on fans around the world. The media may sensationalise stories but at its core, every relationship is about two people trying to make things work for each other. It’s unfortunate when splits occur but ultimately everyone deserves respect during such difficult times.

Divorce affects those involved in various ways and artists like Nas are no exception. His experience serves as a reminder that we should never judge one side too quickly or harshly without hearing both sides of the story first.
