Grammy-Award winning singer D’Angelo will make his return to the U.S. stage during the 2012 ESSENCE Music Festival after being absent for over a decade. The soul crooner started his comeback earlier this year with a stint of shows in the UK and now he is ready to win back his U.S. fans during the 18th annual event taking place July 6-8 in New Orleans.

As Singersroom previously reported, D’Angelo is almost complete with his forthcoming third studio album. “It’s 12 years of emotion, passion and love for music that has been pent up,” Manager Kevin Liles told Billboard.

Other performers set to take stage at the upcoming ESSENCE Music Festical include Trey Songz, Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Charlie Wilson, Fantasia, Ledisi, Tank, Mary Mary, Marsha Ambrosious, The Pointer Sisters, Q. Parker & Super Jay, Teedra Moses, Melanie Fiona, Carl Thomas, Rebirth Brass Band and more.

The 2012 ESSENCE MUSIC FESTIVAL night-by-night line-up is as follows:

Friday, July 6: Charlie Wilson, D’Angelo, Trey Songz, Keyshia Cole, The Pointer Sisters, Marsha Ambrosious, Q. Parker & Super Jay, Khris Royal, Kindred The Family Soul, Vivian Green, Stephanie Mills, Gary Clark Jr., Rebirth Brass Band, SWV, Goapele

Saturday, July 7: Mary J. Blige, Kevin Hart, Ledisi, Tank, Eric Roberson, Teedra Moses, The Stylistics, Robert Glasper, Dru Hill, The Original Pinettes Brass Band, Stephanie Mills, Big Sam’s Funky Nation

Sunday, July 8: Aretha Franklin, Fantasia, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Melanie Fiona, Carl Thomas, Alex Boyd, Eve, The Stooges

After a decade-long hiatus, Grammy Award winning R&B singer D’Angelo is finally ready to make his triumphant return to the United States. His U.S. debut of this new era in music will take place at the 2012 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on July 5th through 8th.

For fans of D’Angelo, this news comes as an exciting surprise and long overdue blessing. The talented artist has been absent from the American stage since 2002 when he released his sophomore album Voodoo; yet his influence can still be heard throughout today’s popular music with many current artists citing him as one of their biggest inspirations.

It should come as no surprise then that anticipation for his upcoming performance is already building – both among die hard fans and casual listeners alike – meaning that tickets are sure to sell out quickly! Be sure not to miss your chance to catch a glimpse of what could very well become one of the most talked about performances of 2012!

Artist Overview

R&B singer D’Angelo is set to make his U.S. return at the 2012 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans this July. The multi-platinum artist has been away from the spotlight for over a decade, and fans are eagerly awaiting his return to the stage.

D’Angelo rose to fame as a neo-soul pioneer with hits such as “Brown Sugar,” which was lauded by critics and earned him two Grammy nominations in 1998. His 2000 album, Voodoo, cemented his status as an R&B icon and won him two more Grammys that same year. Unfortunately, D’Angelo’s career all but disappeared following Voodoo due to personal issues he faced during the early 2000s.

But now it looks like D’Angelo is back and ready to perform again! He will be performing alongside some of music’s biggest stars including Mary J Blige, Erykah Badu, Chaka Khan, Trey Songz, Tyrese Gibson and many more at this highly anticipated event. Fans can expect an amazing show full of soulful tunes from one of R&B’s most influential artists!

Performance Details

As July approaches, anticipation is building for D’Angelo’s return to the stage. The Essence Music Festival will be held from July 6-8 in New Orleans, and it promises to be a weekend full of amazing performances. On Saturday, July 7th, fans can catch D’Angelo performing his classic hits as well as some new material that he has been working on throughout this past year. He’ll take the stage at 8:30 pm alongside other legendary R&B acts such as Mary J Blige, Erykah Badu, Chaka Khan and more.

The festival offers an array of entertainment options including food vendors, art galleries and various interactive activities for attendees to enjoy before and after the show. It also provides a great opportunity for music lovers around the world to experience the culture of New Orleans firsthand. And with tickets starting at just $59 per person, it’s easy for everyone to join in on the festivities!

So if you’re looking for an unforgettable summer music event featuring one of R&B’s greatest artists ever – then don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime chance to see D’Angelo live at the 2012 Essence Music Festival!

Conclusion

I’m so excited to hear that D’Angelo will be making his U.S. return at the 2012 Essence Music Festival! His soulful music has always been a favorite of mine, and I can’t wait to see him perform live! As an artist, he is known for fusing together various genres such as funk, soul, hip hop, jazz, and rock into one unique sound.

The performance details have been announced and it’s sure to be a great show. He’ll be performing alongside fellow R&B stars like Mary J Blige and The Roots on July 6th in New Orleans. This event marks his first major appearance since 2000-2001 when he toured with Erykah Badu. It’s going to be incredible hearing him sing some of my favorites from back in the day.

Overall this will definitely be an amazing experience for concert goers! Everyone who attends should expect nothing less than pure musical excellence from D’Angelo – it’s sure to be a night you won’t forget anytime soon! My anticipation for this show is through the roof and I just can’t wait until then! Brass Band, Estelle, Luke James, Raheem DeVaughn, Bridget Kelly
