Over the past decade, reality TV has literally taken over almost every network and cable channel. And over time, viewers have seen everything from crazy to crazier. Here’s a look back at the 10 most memorable reality TV moments in the past 10 years:
1) “Somethin’s Stinkin,” Flavor of Love, Season 2, 2006
When Somethin’, one of Flav’s love interests on his wildly popular dating show, pooped on the floor in his mansion, this was probably the first time in TV history you actually held your nostrils.
2) “Who Gon’ Check Me, Boo?,” The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Season 2, 2009
When Sheree went off on Anthony, the party planner she had hired to plan her “Independence party,” she showed off her bad-ass attitude and coined the popular phrase, “Who Gon’ Check Me, Boo?”
3) “Wake Up Call,” The Bad Girls Club, Season 2, 2008
Infamous “Bad Girl” Tanisha decided to wake up her roommates by banging pots and pans as payback for lack of sleep. The popular clip was soon remixed into a video on YouTube.
4) “Role Model,” America’s Next Top Model, Season 4, 2005
When Tyra Banks decides to give contestant Tiffany some tough love for not taking modeling seriously, she explodes on Tiffany in a way you’d never expect from a mogul like Tyra- at least not on TV for everyone else to see.
5) “Ring Toss,” The Bachelor, Season 13, 2009
Last year, bachelor Jason Mesnick handed Melissa the final rose on the finale of The Bachelor. One could’ve imagined the possibility of him breaking up with her afterwards, but you hardly expected him to dump her on the reunion show for the runner-up, Molly, whom he later proposed to.
6) “Battle for the Title,” American Idol, Season 2, 2003
When Ruben Studdard was the second to last man standing alongside Clay Aiken during season 2 of American Idol, many predicted that Clay would walk home with the title. However, many viewers were proven wrong when Ruben beat Clay by only 134,000 votes out of 24 million total.
7) “Breaking the Band,” Making The Band 4, 2009
Once Diddy fired Aundrea on the season finale of Making The Band 4 (after confirming that Shannon, Aubrey and D. Woods were no longer a part of the music group), girl group Danity Kane became a thing of the past. Luckily for Dawn Richard, she was able to revive her career as a member of Dirty Money alongside Diddy.
8) “Mama Said Knock You Out,” Jersey Shore, Season 1, 2009
When Snooki confronted a man at the bar after he tried to steal drinks from her crew, it escalated into a heated argument that resulted in Snooki getting punched in the face. Although MTV promoted it in teasers for the show, they eventually decided to not to actually show the footage of the physical altercation. Unfortunately that didn’t prevent the puncher, who happened to be a high school gym teacher, from losing his job as a result.
9) “Bad Girl,” The Apprentice, Season 1, 2004
Omarosa was quickly labeled a bad-girl villain when she appeared on The Apprentice. Omarosa was most famously known for causing controversy and accusing her co-stars, particularly Ereka, of being racist. During week 9, Donald Trump fired Omarosa for having a negative attitude, being difficult to get along with and making too many excuses for herself.
10) “Bring On the Drama” For the Love of Ray J, Season 2, 2010
On the reunion show for “For the Love of Ray J,” things got pretty crazy. First, Cocktail (the winner of season 1) comes out on stage to warn Mz. Berry (the winner of season 2) that Ray J’s a liar. Then, Ray J appears and begins to curse Cocktail out for airing his dirty laundry. Oh, and he also admitted to having feelings for the eliminated Jaguar while Mz. Berry waited backstage to see him for the first time after five months. Hands down, it was one of the most drama-filled reunion shows ever.
