Derek Blanks is a notable and remarkably talented photographer. He tells a story with each photo he takes. Photography is one of the many talents he has to offer; he is also an exceptional painter and graphic designer.
Blanks was born and raised in Mississippi. Supported and encouraged by his mother to pursue his passion for art, he later went on to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he studied fine arts and commercial illustration. He gained some experience working as a freelance designer and painter while studying. After graduating college, he decided to settle in Atlanta, where his name and work have become prominent among high end celebrities and magazines.
Some of his clients include celebrities, such as Musiq Soulchild, Beyonce and Amerie. Most of his work can be found in Jackson, Mississippi at Gallery 19. One of his well known pictorials is the Alter Ego Exhibit.
