‘The Color Purple’ and former American Idol star Fantasia has signed on to appear at this year’s Hampton Jazz Festival ! Taking a quick break from recording the anticipated follow up to 2007s “Hoodboy” and “When I See You” led album “Fantasia” and reprising her role as “Celie” in ‘The Color Purple,’ the American Idol vet will join iconic performers Patti Labelle and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds for the annual three day festival in Hampton, VA. News of Fantasia’s addition to the popular Hampton Jazz Festival follows the unveiling of several performers including Robin Thicke, Michael McDonald, The O’Jays, and the Forte Jazz Band. The 42nd Annual Hampton Jazz Festival will take place June 25-28 at the Hampton Coliseum. Verve recording star Ledisi has also been confirmed to take the stage.
