Singer/songwriter Will Downing has been tapped to perform on Jerry Lewisâ annual MDA Labor Day Telethon. Downing who recently returned to the music scene after a bout with a debilitating disease (polymyositis), will take the stage via live remote from New York during the telethon which is to take place August 31 – September 1st.. First broadcast over Labor Day weekend in 1966 by just one TV station in New York City, the 21 1/2-hour show starring popular comedian Jerry Lewis will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association This yearâs Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon will begin at 6 p.m. Aug. 31 and run through Labor Day. The 2007 Telethon was viewed by some 40 million people, raising a record $63.8 million.
