Anais Aida graduated from NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in 2013, so she should know a thing or two about such things! The Toulouse, France-born songstress has also lived in Ireland, Senegal, and Oakland, CA, where she attended the Oakland School of the Arts. Her travels and diverse cultural reflect in her music, a.k.a. her debut EP Out In The Waves.
“There's a song for everyone on the EP. They don’t all fit into that same pocket,” she told ESSENCE. “They each have their own personality. I was experimenting and it's also my first project. So I'm showing people my interests and where my creativity has taken me so far. I haven't reached the place to define my sound. It's a process for every artist.”
In six tracks, Aida transcends conventional genre boundaries, fusing R&B, Rock (which she says she got into while living in Dublin), and others…in general with a worldly ambiance.
