Get ready to enter the room of Mateo’s mind in “Suite 823.” The 9-track-mixtape features “Carry On,” “Looking You Up” featuring Stacy Barthe, and a cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Blue Jeans.”
Mateo says his New York City hotel domain Suite 823 became a place of reflecting on his past and future endeavors after being signed to Interscope. “When you’re sitting in a hotel room by yourself, you got a lot to think about, so a lot of that material came out of there,” he tells Singersroom. “It still kinda has the young, foolish and in love sentiment that has always been in my songs, but it also has more edge to it, add different sounds to it, and we really tried to come up with something really really special,” he says.
The singer-songwriter is currently working on his debut Interscope Records effort.
