Usher looks to be preparing for his upcoming movie role as he fronts Billboard magazine’s latest issue with his dukes up. The R&B crooner, who will release his seventh studio album Looking For Myself, on June 12 featuring the hot singles “Climax” and “Lemme See,” was recently cast to play legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard in a forthcoming biopic titled “Hands of Stone.”
“If you see me in the corners boxing… I’m in preparation for a very incredible role,” Usher previously told BBC. “If you guys see me running around London that’s what it is.”
While the film is not based on Leonard, instead focusing on Panamanian fighter Roberto Duran, Usher joins a cast that includes Robert De Niro, Ryan Kwanten (True Blood) and Al Pacino.
In addition to covering the mag, Usher has been tapped to perform at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards on May 20th. The music veteran joins other superstars including Kelly Clarkson, Linkin Park, Nelly Furtado, Justin Bieber, Cee Lo Green, Carrie Underwood, LMFAO and the Wanted.
