Month over month, we here at Singersroom come across tons of new music, and we want to spotlight some of these gems by sharing our faves on a monthly basis.
In February (2007), between the year still feeling new, Valentine’s Day, Black History Month, and so forth, there were tons of new music that caught our attention.
It was another hard task to select our favorites this month, but songs like The Womack Sisters’ “Darling,” H.E.R.’s “Your Way,” Mary J. Blige’s “U + Me (Love Lesson),” and many others stood out.

[tps_title]The Womack Sisters – Darling[/tps_title]There is a new female R&B group on the rise, and they come from a long line of legends. The Womack Sisters blessed us with the song and video for their debut single, “Darling,” a vintage record that travels multiple eras of music. The throwback visual helps heighten the impact of the eargasmic record as the girls deliver intoxicating vocals and harmonies which pull on the heartstrings. “Darling” is the lead single from the girl’s upcoming album, due out later this year.
[tps_title]Staasia Daniels – Peanut Butter x Hanky Panky[/tps_title]We had to give y’all to two-fer for Staasia Daniels!
On “Hanky Panky,” she is formally inviting you to a sensual play-date. The provocative soft caresses of her voice over the taunting, cinematic backdrop are awaiting your response.
On “Peanut Butter,” Staasia preps for a seductive night, projecting her lusty feelings towards her lover comparing him to the sticky, messy spread.
[tps_title]Stokely Williams – Level[/tps_title]After over two decades as the lead vocalist for the incomparable hit-making R&B band Mint Condition, singer and two-time Grammy Award nominee Stokley Williams charters a new course with his breathtaking debut solo album Introducing Stokley, which is headed by the love groove “Level.” The new offering finds Stokley wielding his mighty pen as a songwriter, weaving lyrics of affirmation over a propulsive rhythm guitar-driven track.
[tps_title]Mila J – F**kboy[/tps_title]Mila J delivers a funky, jazzy, R&B gem in the form of her new female anthem, ‘F*ckboy.’ In the feel-good tune, the West Coast songstress tells those no good men to keep it moving. She even calls on her ladies to do the same. Although her message is in your face with lines like “Got me f*cked up, I swear this ni**a got me f*cked up,” the song is easy on the soul as Mila gives us something musically captivating and groovy.
[tps_title]Delxi – Unicorns[/tps_title]Produced by Krazy Figs, “Unicorns” is a new spin on doo wop and marks the debut single from Charlotte, NC resident Delxi (pronounced “Del-chee,” born Erika Morgan Riley), whose signed to one of the newest labels in the industry, Five Star Empire—headed by veteran music executive Jervonta “Stunna” Walker.
[tps_title]Damar Jackson – Changed[/tps_title]Rising R&B artist Damar Jackson is prepping a new project titled Unfaithful, and it’s headed by the lead single “Changed.” On the self-produced song, Damar admits it’s easy to change for the worst when one gets success.
[tps_title]Chanté Moore – Real One[/tps_title]Lifted from her forthcoming ninth studio album, The Rise of The Phoenix, the record boasts a feel-good vibe as Chanté sings about her new love.
[tps_title]Chris Stylez – The Gospel[/tps_title]NYC artist Chris Stylez stepped into 2017 with the new soulful joint, “The Gospel.” Over the pulsating beat: Magical hip-hop drums and ambient chords, Stylez’s raspy vocals gives life as he sings words of triumph in love.
[tps_title]H.E.R. – Your Way[/tps_title]Mysterious singer-songwriter H.E.R. returned with another fire joint titled “Your Way.” Sampling Aaliyah’s “Come Over,” the Scootie & Ryghteous Ryan-produced song harps on that same theme: the singer making a late-night trip to see Bae.
[tps_title]Cherish – One Time[/tps_title]R&B group Cherish returns after a four-year hiatus with the brand new single “One Time.” On the seductive offering, current members, and sisters Fallon and Felisha give their daring tales about wanting someone who is already taken. Cherish is said to be prepping an album for a 2017 release!
[tps_title]Leela James – Hard For Me[/tps_title]Veteran R&B/Soul singer Leela James continues her tale of relationship struggles with the brand new single, “Hard For Me.” On the ballad, which follows the 2016 release “Don’t Want You Back,” James finds herself stuck between a rock and a hard place as she yearns for her lover to give his all.
[tps_title]Musiq Soulchild – Simple Things[/tps_title]Grammy-nominated R&B singer/songwriter Musiq Soulchild releases a new song called “Simple Things,” a tune from of his forthcoming new project on eOne Music/SoulStar Music Company. Written by Musiq and produced by J. Troy, the smooth groove is about not taking the small things in life for granted, especially a special person in your life.
[tps_title]Kevin Ross – Pick You Up[/tps_title]From his debut album, The Awakening, Kevin Ross drops “Pick You Up,” another one of his signature songs of inspiration. Over the minimal track, Ross sings encouraging lyrics. “Don’t forget when life brings you down / It won’t last forever, it’s just for now / Everything will turn back around,” he sings.
[tps_title]Mary J. Blige – U + Me (Love Lesson)[/tps_title]‘Thick of It‘ set the stage for Mary J. Blige’s painful truth, while her new song ‘U + Me (Love Lesson)’ places the spotlight on her regrets. The record is reflective in a way as the Queen of Hip Hop Soul gains strength to move on with her life.
[tps_title]BJ The Chicago Kid – Roses[/tps_title]On the sensual, bouncy song “Roses,” fitted with finger-snaps and acoustic guitar, BJ The Chicago Kid put his soulful swagger center stage as he delivers intoxicating verses about his thrill for a female that’s no good for him.
[tps_title]Bonus: Nola Adé’s – Bittersweet[/tps_title]Unlike her previous visual for “It’s Love,” which highlighted the commencement of a budding relationship, “Bittersweet” finds the Nigerian-American singer/songwriter single and reminiscent over a love that’s no more. Nola paints a vivid storyline than many people can relate to.
