“Tink – Ratchet Commandments” is a compelling hip-hop anthem that delves into the complexities of modern-day society and urban culture. With a potent mix of gritty beats and Tink’s raw lyricism, the track serves as a provocative commentary on the dos and don’ts of life in the streets.
Tink’s commanding vocals take center stage as she lays down a series of ‘commandments’ that reflect the harsh realities and unspoken rules of the ‘ratchet’ lifestyle. From navigating the treacherous world of relationships to staying true to oneself in the face of adversity, each commandment serves as a poignant reminder of the struggles and triumphs inherent in urban existence.
The production, characterized by heavy basslines and hypnotic melodies, provides the perfect backdrop for Tink’s powerful delivery, creating a sonic landscape that is both captivating and thought-provoking. Through her unapologetic honesty and razor-sharp wit, Tink invites listeners to peer into the often overlooked corners of society, shedding light on the experiences of those who dwell in the shadows.
In “Ratchet Commandments,” Tink not only showcases her exceptional talent as a rapper and lyricist but also establishes herself as a fearless voice for the disenfranchised and marginalized. With its bold message and infectious energy, the song stands as a testament to the enduring power of hip-hop as a tool for social commentary and cultural expression.
Newcomer Tink boogies with her mentor and label boss Timbaland in the music video for her latest offering, "Ratchet Commandments." In the Dave Meyers-directed clip, the Chicago singer/rapper calls out females for their immature behaviors, while having a blast with dancers.
Timbaland told a crowd at SXSW last week that Aaliyah was his reason for signing Tink. “I was riding home one day, sleep, she spoke to me in my sleep, and said she’s the one.”
