The album was bittersweet for Usher because he was going through a public breakup with TLC's songstress, Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas. The world was devastated when they announced their separation because this was the "ideal" couple in the music business at that time. There was a 7-year age difference, but everyone knew Usher and Chilli loved each other. But, I guess good things must come to an end. And when Usher released Confessions, fans compared every song on the album to their relationship especially "Confessions Part II."
