Let’s revisit the bloody incident that transpired between the feisty Boricua and her football husband, formerly known as, Ochocinco just a few days after their one month anniversary as husband and wife. On August 12, 2012, Chad made mistakes that altered Evelyn’s trust in him as a husband by viciously head butting her; causing her forehead to gash open and require stitches. According to Evelyn, she found a condom wrapper on the floor of their car and confronted him about his infidelity. The argument escalated to physical abuse after she let him know that she refused stay in an unfaithful marriage and she would not have a child with him.
The hype surrounding their dispute seemed to subside until the premiere of Basketball Wives where the topic is brought up in several scenes.
So far Evelyn has discussed her domestic violence experience on camera with her mother, a therapist and a few of her fellow cast members; who, of course have an opinion on the next step she should take. We even witnessed Suzie reach out to her on the latest episode to let Evelyn know that going back to Chad is the wrong move to make. Although she did leave him, she made it clear on the show that she was still in love with Chad, which often led to heartbreaking outbursts of water works. To make matters worst, two days after the event, Evelyn’s brother in law lost his battle with cancer; which added to her grief and caused Evelyn to confess that at one point she actually wanted to die. Only she knows the level of pain that was inflicted upon her, but I can say that it takes true strength to power through her struggles and continue to live her life.
