The Seattle independent duo, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, crushed the competition of Drake, A$AP Rocky, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar with their smash hit entitled “Can’t Hold Us” for the best Hip Hop Video VMA this year.

Macklemore ended the night as the most-nominated artist with at a whooping 8. (Not that bad.) Lewis, Jason Koenig and Jon Jon Augustavo directed the bigger then life video “Can’t Hold Us”.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis also received the Best Video With A Social Message for the song “Same Love” which they performed with the help of Jennifer Hudson and Mary Lambert.

"The performance is going to be…hopefully memorable," Macklemore said during rehearsals. "Hopefully we will be in the present moment, we will capture some magic on stage that will be transmitted to the televisions of the world." – HipHopDX
