It was down to two contestants, Kree Harrison and Candice Glover, but congratulations are in order for Candice Glover as America crowned her their American Idol for season 12.
From her first audition singing “Syrup & Honey,” the 22-year-old Glover’s impressive and strong vocals held her steady as the one to beat, tearing down the house each week with her renditions of Ben E. King’s “I Who Have Nothing,” The Cure’s “Lovesong,” and Adele’s “Chasing Pavements.”
Shortly before her win, Jennifer Hudson joined Glover on stage during the two-hour season 12 finale for a duet of Natalie Cole’s “Inseparable.” Judges Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey obviously adored their soulful match up, if the throwing up church hands was any indication!
