This week, new R&B albums have been released by Malaysian songstress Yuna and acapella group Straight No Chaser.
Yuna | Sixth Street EP (Verve Records/Indie-Pop Music) | Purchase
Yuna’s potential is on the rise. The Malaysian-born songstress follows up her self-titled debut album with the new EP, Sixth Street. Yuna’s creative juices were sparked when she found a comfy atmosphere to write the record. "Sixth Street is probably a new chapter for me. All of the songs were written in my apartment where I'm most comfortable, and at that point I understood who I was and knew what I was feeling about life." On a Let Love Come Through, a cut from the record, she spreads her airy, soulful vocals as she welcomes everything that comes with love.
Straight No Chaser | Under the Influence (Atlantic Records) | Purchase
Straight No Chaser return to Atlantic Records to release their fourth album entitled Under the Influence. The project is filled with a wish list of all-star artists including Phil Collins, Dolly Parton, Rob Thomas, Seal, and Jason Mraz joining the acapella group. The premiere of Straight No Chaser’s “Sign, Sealed, Delivered” on Singersroom, which featured Stevie Wonder, was a fan favorite that topped the Most Popular R&B Singles of the Week. The new record is a reinterpretation on classic songs.
