This week belong to new talents from the U.K. Laura Mvula and Daley along with X Factor contestant Marcus Canty. All three artists dropped their official studio debut album, a milestone in each of their young careers.
Marcus Canty – This…Is Marcus Canty (Epic Records) – BUY NOW
Marcus Canty is ready to make a vocal statement with the release of ‘This…Is Marcus Canty.’ "The impact I'm trying to make as a new artist is to make sure that people understand that music isn't dead," he told Singersroom. "People don't have to sing to do R&B anymore. I think it's when the rappers decided they wanted to start singing on us. It kind of takes away from the beauty of having an amazing voice, like the Whitney Houstons and the Mariah Careys. I wanna be that guy that they can say he sounds really good and he's entertaining at the same time."
Laura Mvula – Sing to the Moon (RCA) – BUY NOW
Following Adele and "Our Version of Events" breakthrough artist Emeli Sande, Mvula is the next British sensation. Mvula's ability to translate her sentiments into lyrics and vocalize the emotions sets her apart from the crowd of singers on Soundcloud. "These songs have been a fantastic therapy for me," she told The Guardian. "I needed to write them. They evoke the emotions of being lost or left, or loss in general. Things are really complicated, very painful and deep, and the music has been part of the process."
Laura Mvula’s single “Green Garden” dips back into the past with the charming bells and hand-clapping, but the song's arrangement moves the vibe into contemporary time.
Daley – Day and Nights (Republic Records)
UK soul crooner Daley has been making his presence felt in the U.S. for the last year. Adding his name and sound to the British invasion movement, the singer-songwriter has released the brand new album ‘Day and Nights.’
