Each and every member of this group were vocal powerhouses and it worked. They were like a female super group â beautiful, talented, and all about female empowerment. Put together by producers Denzil Foster an Thomas McElroy, Cindy Herron, Maxine Jones, Dawn Robinson, and Terry Ellis, came on the scene blazing. Their first single off their debut album Born to Sing “Hold On” was a huge commercial success, reaching number two on Billboard’s Hot 100 and number one on the R&B singles and Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts. From their they became a worldwide success. With their equally epic music videos, the group racked up so many MTV Video Music Awards they they still to this day hold the record for the most VMAs than any other female group in MTV history, that includes groups like The Spice Girls, TLC, and Destiny’s Child. They earned seven Grammy nominations, won six American Music Awards, and four Soul Train Awards.
After their sophomore album, Robinson left the group. Not letting that stop their run, En Vogue went on to record their third album EV3, which went platinum. After chaotic group member changes throughout the years, the group reunited with all the original members in 2005 only to have Robinson leave again after business disagreements.
With six albums under their belt and being deemed on of the 18th most successful act of the 1990s by Billboard Magazine, one of the most successful and celebrated female groups of all time continue to tour with group members Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones, and occasionally while touring Dawn Robinson.
