Jade
Originally consisting of members Joi Marshall and two other women named Angie and Debbie, the group underwent a lot of changes before becoming the group we all now think of and know. They changed group members replacing two of the members, Angie and Debbie, with Tonya Kelly and Di Reed, which also resulted in a name change â going from JAD to Jade.
With the new group formed they went on to release their first hit single “I Wanna Love You” for the Class Act soundtrack, landing in the top ten of the R&B charts and peaking at sixteen on Billboard’s Hot 100. That was just the beginning of their mid 90s success. They then went on to release two studio albums (Jade to the Max and Mind, Body & Song), one live album, and released one their most notable single, “Don’t Walk Away,” which climbed all the way to number two on the R&B charts and became certified gold by the RIAA in 1993.
Shortly after their sophomore album the group disbanded due to frustrations with the labels mismanagement of their finances, only reunite in 1997 for a the song “Keep on Risin” on the soundtrack for The Sixth Man.
They originally only intended to take a break but life went on and the women went in different directions. Joi Marshall continues to sing but now as a gospel artist. She signed a deal with Amen Records/EMI Gospel and released an album Testimony & Praise. Tonya Kelly has her own interior design company, and Di Reed sings back up for Rod Stewart.
Music fans have always had their favorite artists that they wished would release new albums. But there are some artists who have gone silent, seemingly out of nowhere, making their loyal listeners yearn for more music from them. M.I.A., the British artist known for her unique fusion of hip-hop and world music styles, is one such artist who has been absent from the music scene in recent years. In this article we will explore 12 past musicians that we wish would follow suit like M.I.A. and drop a new album soon.
From alternative rockers to funk superstars, these twelve acts each bring something special to the table musically with their own distinct sound and style that can’t be replicated by any other artist in the industry today. It’s not just about nostalgia either; it’s about wanting to hear what fresh sounds these legends might come up with if they decided to pick up where they left off and create even more amazing musical works of art!
Whether you’re into soulful ballads or bass-heavy bangers, this list of twelve past musicians certainly won’t disappoint when it comes to satisfying your cravings for new tunes – so let’s dive right in and take a look at which legendary artists we’d all love to see releasing an album ASAP!
Overview Of M.I.A.
M.I.A. is an influential artist who has been making waves in the music industry for over a decade. She’s best known for her unique blending of hip-hop, dancehall, and alternative pop sounds that have earned her multiple Grammy nominations and millions of fans worldwide. After releasing five studio albums and numerous singles since 2005, M.I.A.’s presence in the music world has become almost iconic.
However, there are many other artists who’ve made their mark in the music scene before or alongside M.I.A., but haven’t released any new material in recent years. From R&B singers to electronic producers, these 12 past artists deserve some attention as they could potentially create amazing albums with today’s technology and production tools if given the chance to do so.
It would be great to hear what each of these talented individuals can bring to the table musically – whether it’d be fresh beats from legendary producers or soulful vocals from underrated vocalists – all while showcasing their own distinct brand of artistry on wax once again!
Notable Alumni Who Could Make A Comeback
One artist who comes to mind is Timbaland, the Grammy-winning producer behind hits like Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” and Missy Elliott’s “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly).” Since his last studio album Shock Value II was released in 2009, fans have been eagerly awaiting for him to release new material. He has recently worked on some tracks with Kehlani and A$AP Rocky but hasn’t dropped any solo projects yet. With his impressive production skills and unique sound, it would be great to hear what he could come up with if given the chance.
Another potential comeback kid is Lauryn Hill, whose 1998 solo debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill remains one of the most influential R&B albums ever made. Recently she has been performing live shows around the world and collaborating with other artists such as Nas but her own solo work has yet to resurface since 2012’s Unplugged No. 2.0. To listen to more music from this talented singer/songwriter would be highly anticipated by many hip-hop and soul fans alike!
Last but not least, we have Scott Storch who produced multiple hit songs for 50 Cent, Dr Dre, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera and much more throughout the early 2000s before mysteriously disappearing off the radar in recent years. His signature keyboard sounds were heard all over pop radio at that time so it’d definitely make waves if he were able to bring back those same vibes once again today.
Conclusion
M.I.A.’s career has been an inspiration to many upcoming artists, and her discography is a testament to her success in the music industry. We can only hope that some of these past alumni will follow suit and come out with new albums soon. It would be exciting to hear what they have cooked up after all this time!
One thing’s for sure – whether or not we get any more albums from them, M.I.A.’s influence on modern music is undeniable and I’m grateful for everything she has done over the years. Her work may no longer be topping the charts like it used to back then, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t still making waves in the music world today!
We can always look forward to hearing more great things from M.I.A., as well as possibly getting some surprise releases from our favorite old school artists too! Let’s keep our fingers crossed and continue supporting those who make us feel something special through their artistry.
