Adina Howard
When Adina Howard came out she came in a bold way. With singles like “Freak Like Me,” “(Freak) And U Know It,” “Nasty Grind,” and “Freaks” it was clear Howard was comfortable with her sexuality and wanted the world to know it, embrace it, and love it. Her debut album Do You Wanna Ride? went gold strongly due to the strength of her hypersexual lead single “Freak Like Me,” which reached platinum status and landed at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. With all the sexual lyrics going around now-a-days it’s hard to think that not too long ago a song like this was actually groundbreaking. Howard helped to pioneer more provocative R&B lyrics from the soulful singers of the 90s and on.
To less attention, the sensual siren released three more albums, her last being in 2007. Besides music she’s appeared in a few independent films â High Freeakquency, Casanova’s Demise, and Poke the Sleeping Bear and in 2011 was engaged and allowed fans to attend the wedding. She was then married to Sherman Jordan in October of that year.
