Life after Mathew Knowles continue to get sweeter for Kelly Rowland. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “Motivation” singer will pilot a new sitcom on BET tentatively-titled “What Would Dylan Do.”

Rowland, whose acting credits include episodes of American Dreams, The Hughleys and Girlfriends, will star as the lead chracter Dylan, a struggling L.A.-based relationship blogger who lives with her best friend Cherise (Gabrielle Dennis, The Game) and wealthy and divorced roommate Brooke (Melanie Liburd, Strike Back).

The series will be written and co-executive produced by Julian Breece and The Bernie Mac Show’s Warren Hutcherson.

Rowland is currently shooting the dance competition show “Everybody Dance Now,” in Australia with pop singer Jason Derulo. In addition, she is currently working on her fourth solo studio album, led by the single “Ice” featuring Lil Wayne.

Kelly Rowland is making waves in the entertainment industry yet again! The former Destiny’s Child songstress and Grammy Award winner announced that her BET sitcom, “The Kelly Project” has been given the green light. Fans of the star are excited to see what this new show will bring to their screens.

The project was created by award-winning writer Leigh Davenport, who has worked on shows such as Freeform’s “Grown-ish” and HBO Max’s “Rap Sh*t.” It stars a fictional version of Kelly herself, and follows her journey from small town Georgia girl trying to make it big in Los Angeles. This news comes after an impressive year for Rowland; she recently won ‘Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist’ at the 2020 People’s Choice Awards.

With its mix of comedy and drama, fans can’t wait to get a glimpse into how Kelly navigates the unpredictable world of fame and Hollywood culture with humor, wit, and class. Keep reading to find out more about this highly anticipated new series!

In this section we’ll take an overview of the show, including its premise, cast and crew, and audience appeal.

The Kelly Rowland Show centers around her character, who is also named Kelly. She works as a talent agent at a major music label where she juggles work life with her personal relationships. Executive producer Will Packer said that the show will be “a modern-day love letter to Black women everywhere.” It will include topics such as female empowerment, friendship, family dynamics, success stories, and more.

The official cast for the show features some big names from both TV and film. Alongside Rowland herself is co-star Chico Benymon as her business partner Bobby; comedian Bresha Webb as sister Phoebe; actress Gaby Wilson plays friend Vanessa; Deon Cole stars as rival Leon; Porscha Coleman portrays assistant/friend Amaya; singer/actor Rotimi serves up comedy relief as Tiny Little Big Man Johnson; and newcomer Jermaine Rivers plays hair salon owner Darryl Jones Jr., among others. Other executive producers on board are Sheila Ducksworth (Black-ish) and director Millicent Shelton (Reed Between the Lines).
