Lena Horne (June 30, 1917 – May 9, 2010)
Singer, actress, dancer and civil rights activist died this past Mother's Day. She appeared in a number of MGM musicals, most notably 'Cabin in the Sky,' but was never featured in a leading role because of her race. She had been blacklisted during the 1950s for her political views. In 1989, she was the recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
