Total – Kima, Keisha, and Pam made their debut singing the hook on Biggie’s “Juicy,” and afterwards Diddy (who also founded them) put them in the studio to work on their debut album, which featured their big hit, “Kissing You.”
Aaliyah – When Detroit native Aaliyah released her first album, Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number (which was produced by R. Kelly), she became almost an overnight sensation. Two years later, she released her second album, One in a Million, which include the hit “4 Page Letter,” and sold over 8 million copies worldwide. Unfortunately, her career was cut short when she died in a plane crash in 2001.
TLC – T-Boz, Left Eye and Chilli comprised of the only female group in history to receive diamond status for their second album, CrazySexyCool, which was released in 1994. From “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg” to “Creep.” their songs kept their fans coming back for more. Despite their success, they filed for bankruptcy in 1995, and Left Eye’s life was ended unexpectedly when she died in a car accident in 2002.
Faith Evans – She may have started out as a backup artist for Al B. Sure and Christopher Williams, but Biggie’s widow made a name for herself when Diddy signed her as the first female artist to Bad Boy. She went on to release three platinum-selling albums, and although we loved many of her songs, we’ll never forget “I’ll Be Missing You,” her tribute song to Biggie.
Brandy – At the mere age of fifteen, Brandy had already started an acting career and debuted her first self-titled album. Known for her braids and baggy clothes, Brandy released hits including “I Wanna Be Down” and “Baby” on her first album, and ended up winning four Soul Train Music Awards and two Billboard Awards.
