If there was one part we absolutely loved about the 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards last week, it was the hip hop cyphers. We got to see some of our favorite lyricists come together and collaborate if only for a few minutes. The result: A combination of raw and aged talent mixed with undeniable energy and sick lyrics. At Singersroom, we’re big fans of R&B and we couldn’t stop gushing about seeing our very own R&B stars doing the same thing. Here are five R&B cyphers we’re dying to see:

Super Producers
We’ve seen plenty of R&B artists make it big who originally started out as behind-the-scenes players. Our dream collaboration would consist of The Dream, Ne-Yo, Keri Hilson and Bei Maejor. Bei would bring a newness, Keri could write the lyrics and bring a sexy vibe while The Dream and Ne-Yo could co-produce a major hit.

Chick Clique
Since girl groups became practically nonexistent once Danity Kane broke up, we would die and go to R&B heaven if some of our favorite solo female artists made a hit. Our picks for the perfect group would be Beyonce, Rihanna, Ciara and Kandi. Kandi and B were formerly a part of R&B groups so working together would prove to be an easy feat for them, while Ciara could choreograph their performance and Rihanna would bring an edgy vibe.

Soul Brothers
Bringing R&B back to its roots of soul, a collaboration of some of today’s top soul artists would be a true treat. If you brought Musiq Soulchild, Maxwell, Raheem Devaughn and Anthony Hamilton into a studio together, you could only expect a beautiful love song reminiscent of The Temptations or The Four Tops to emerge.

Rising Stars
Over the past year, we’ve seen pint-sized stars emerge on the scene in a major way. Our rising star group would consist of Willow Smith, Bruno Mars, K. Michelle and Mishon. This equally divided male and female group would undoubtedly bring out a fun, energetic and catchy hit.

America’s Best R&B Crew
They’ve already proved that they can dance and sing, but what would happen if we put them together? We suspect a hot song with an even hotter routine to go along with it. So go ahead and bring it, Usher, Chris Brown and Mario.

Hip-hop and R&B have been integral parts of American culture for decades. From the streets of New York to the clubs in Los Angeles, these genres have remained popular with music fans all over the world. But when it comes to competition, nothing quite compares to an R&B battle cypher. This type of event has become increasingly popular as a way for vocalists and emcees alike to test their skills on the microphone while entertaining audiences everywhere.

What is an R&B Battle Cypher? It’s a gathering where performers engage in rap battles or lyrical competitions that involve both rapping and singing. The goal is to see who can come up with the most creative lyrics and engaging delivery in order to impress onlookers and judges alike. It’s not just about being loud or aggressive; it’s also about being able to craft clever rhymes that are enjoyable to listen to.

R&B battle cyphers are becoming more common than ever before, thanks in part to social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram which give talented vocalists a platform from which they can showcase their talents worldwide. In this article, we’ll explore what makes these events so special and why they’re worth attending if you’re looking for an exciting night out!

Definition And History

R&B battle cyphers are a long-standing tradition in hip hop culture. They involve two or more rappers competing against each other using their own rhymes and flow to one another’s verses, as well as trading witty remarks back and forth. This form of rap battle has been around since the early days of hip hop, when MCs would gather together in parks and on street corners to test out their skills. By facing off with an opponent, they could hone their craft while creating memorable moments for onlookers.

These battles often relied on improvisational skill from both participants—each rapper had to think quickly on his feet and come up with creative lyrics that could throw off his competitor. In addition, the audience was just as important; it was up to them to judge who won each round by cheering, clapping, and giving feedback after every verse. It wasn’t uncommon for these battles to take place at parties or even house shows where people gathered specifically to enjoy this type of entertainment.

Today, r&b battle cyphering is still going strong thanks to its enduring appeal among fans of all ages. With the advent of social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram, it’s easier than ever before for aspiring MCs to showcase their talents online and reach a wide audience. As such, there have been many successful cypher events held over the years with some becoming legendary within the hip hop community.

Rules And Guidelines

In r&b battle cyphering, the stakes are high and the competition is fierce. To ensure a fair and entertaining experience for all involved, there are certain rules and guidelines that need to be followed. For starters, each rapper must have individual verses ready to go before the start of the cypher; this means no freestyling or ad-libbing on top of someone else’s verse. Additionally, rappers should not use profanity or overly explicit language during their performances—this type of behavior can lead to disqualification from the battle.

When it comes time for participants to take turns in order, they should make sure they don’t run over each other by talking too quickly or continually interrupting one another. It’s also important that everyone respects their opponent’s flow and avoids trying to copy them when it’s their turn—the idea here is to show off unique skills rather than simply mimic what has already been done. Lastly, if any contestant feels uncomfortable at any point during the cypher process then they should speak up and let those around them know so that appropriate action can be taken as needed.

While these regulations may seem strict, they help keep battles competitive while still allowing plenty of room for creativity and improvisation. After all, an exciting r&b battle cypher ultimately hinges upon its participants’ ability to play off each other with quick wit and impressive lyrical delivery. When both parties work within these rules and push themselves to come up with new ideas every round, then everyone in attendance will reap the rewards of witnessing great hip hop entertainment!

Conclusion

I’ve always been a fan of the R&B battle cypher. It’s an exciting and creative way to bring together some of our favorite artists and see what they come up with when put into competition with one another. The rules are simple, two or more vocalists perform their own original creations against each other in front of an audience that decides who wins via applause. What I love about this type of event is how it allows for collaboration between different talents and provides them with a platform to showcase their creativity.

At its core, this form of entertainment relies on respect for all participants involved; if you’re going to challenge someone else, you have to be ready to accept defeat gracefully as well. This mutual understanding further elevates the entire experience, making sure everyone involved can enjoy themselves without fear of being judged too harshly by others. Even those who don’t win still get recognition by showcasing their skills during the battle itself.

Ultimately, no matter who comes out victorious at these events, we can all agree that they provide us with great moments of entertainment while also highlighting talented performers from around the world. Whether I’m participating in or simply watching an R&B battle cypher, I know I’ll be guaranteed an unforgettable experience full of music and fun!
