Children’s Health Vaccinations, is it your right to decline them? If so what needs to be done? Before I became a mother of a 15 month old son, I was wary of the speculations of how children’s vaccinations were linked to Autism. Though it is speculation at this point, what guarantee do parents have to ensure that these vaccinations are safe and healthy? As a parent you do have the right to question the side effects of vaccinations. It has become popular opinion that most parents are either avoiding vaccinations until the very last minute or choosing to apply through state governments for exemption due to religious and philosophical beliefs. Parents entertaining this option should look into the admission requirements by state and school district. On the other hand, children who are not vaccinated can be denied school admission. Though other schools may accept the child’s enrollment, some parents that feel strongly about their decision have decided to home school to avoid vaccinations.
Parents whom are still skeptical regarding the relationship of vaccinations to autism, there is some important information you need to know. Dr. Mary Megson, who has worked in pediatrics for twenty-two-years, wrote an article based on MMR/ DPT (Mumps, Measles and Rubella/Diphtheria, Pertussus and Tetanus) vaccines and how it relates to Regressive Autism. Regressive Autism is when a child develops normally up until the age of 18-24 months and over a period of time begins to lose their skills. This form of autism is increasing at an alarming rate. Dr. Megson’s research has shown that the MMR and DPT vaccinations are linked to Regressive Autism as well as a genetic defect in a G protein. Another link found that correlates with autism is that in most of her cases one parent reports night blindness or other rarer disorders caused by a g-protein. The G-protein controls upgrade or downgrade signals in sensory organs that regulate touch, taste, smell, hearing and vision. They are found all over the body, in high concentration in the gut and the brain. She believes that with the combination of a defective protein, MMR/DPT vaccination and family history can be the cause of this growing disorder.
If you feel that your child may show symptoms of autism do not hesitate to consult your pediatrician for information and screening. It is helpful to be proactive than not to protect your child’s health.
