It’s here! After much anticipation, Erykah Badu’s new mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone is now available for streaming.
The project is headed by the singles “Hotline Bling” remix (called “Cel U Lar Device” on the tape) and “Phone Down.” According to Rap-Up, the telephone theme represents the human need to connect with each other and “our reliance on staying connected” and was recorded in her bedroom at her Dallas home. The set even features a collab between her and her ex, Andre 3000.
The mixtape will be available for streaming and purchase only on Apple Music for one week until December 4, when the project will be available for purchase on other digital retailers and streaming services.
Badu hosted the 2015 Soul Train Awards which will air on Sunday, November 29 on BET & Centric at 8pm EST, where she will perform “Phone Down.”
