After dropping the hypnotically seductive Portishead cover “Glory Box” and appearing on The Cool Kids previous projects, Youtube sensation and Bronx-bred singer Maxine Ashley has dropped her debut mixtape, ‘Mood Swings’, consisting of nine tracks with more of her suave vocals.
Under Kerry “Krucial” Brothers’ musical direction, Ashley fits in with the Krucial crew’s alternative/jazz R&B sound prevalent throughout the camp and this effort. The project begins with the low-key knocker “Between You & I,” and Pharrell contributes his always-funky production on the “Perpetual Nights.” An unexpected change occurs on the slow dub-step track “A Minute of Moments” and rides out to a fire electric guitar solo at the end.
