Mary J. Blige – Whole Damn Year

No one sings a heartache song like Mary! The queen of Hip-hop Soul is renowned for conveying female anguish in her songs, and “Whole Damn Year” is no exception; as she sings about about being hurt in a relationship, the video portrays the ultimate relationship “pain”: domestic violence.

The clip focuses on violence not only on women, but domestic violence towards men as well, in this case, in regards to disapproval of a same sex relationship. However, the issues inflicting the characters ends happily, giving hope to sufferers that they don't have to be victims forever.
