Akon has not been too worried about making money from albums since Lady Gaga dropped The Fame. His sights have been on business opportunities outside of the music industry; his latest venture is the launch of a NASCAR race team. The Akon Motors Sports team selected driver Joe Henderson III as the lead driver of the team. The "Sexy B*tch" singer believes he and Henderson III can play an integral part in peaking African-American interest in NASCAR.
"Joe Henderson III is a trailblazer," Akon said in a statement.
The platinum singer's interest in automobile racing has grown due to his affinity for cars. "Cars were always something that gave me that excitement and that rush for life. That was what really motivated me to get into motorsports."
Henderson III will participate in the Langley Speedway in Virgina on June 22, 2013.
